Thought getting suited in the spring was a no-go? Think again. Though the spring does offer up some warm weather, there are still options for the ‘gents who aren’t quite ready to retire their confidence-boosting suited looks.

When the temperatures climb, the wool suit you wore during Fall/Winter may not be appropriate. To stay sharp and comfortable, opt for a suit made from breathable linen, cotton or blended material. You will look and feel cool on a scorching day.

COLOR

Choosing the right color for your spring suit is imperative. Varying hues of blue, beige, and grey are safe bets for the springtime. White suits can provide an immaculate look, provided you have the personality to pull it off. Linen fabrics need more maintenance than others, and if you are not keen on ironing, go for a stiffer fabric such as cotton or a linen-blend to maintain your crisp look.

SHOES

According to statistics, sixty-seven percent of women will base a man’s overall sense of style from his shoes. Needless to say, shoes can make or break an outfit. During the spring, traditionally a more casual suiting season, many men choose to sport trainers with their linen suits. This is a trend we are seeing throughout Europe, Los Angeles, and New York. If you decide to wear a pair of kicks with your suit, go for a tame, solid color plimsoll.

Loafers are our personal favorite suit/shoe spring combination. Tassel loafers are wildly popular, and will help you create a fresh, refined spring look. If you are not currently a loafer owner, a versatile brown oxford dress shoe is a smart choice as it can be paired with any color linen suit. Pro tip: sprinkle some baby powder in the bottom of your shoes and go sockless this spring.

ACCESSORIES

Due to the warm temperature, you may choose not to wear a tie during the spring. Leave the top button of your dress shirt open, and rock a pocket square. The pocket square shouldn’t encompass more than two colors. A solid white handkerchief works well with gray, blue, and brown suits, as well as a multitude of shirt colors. Complete the look with a nice Cartier watch and a pair of Ray Ban shades.

Spring is about jet setting to Cabo San Lucas, throwing rooftop pool parties, and enjoying the finer things in life. Follow our spring suiting rules and look the part.
